INSTRUCTION TO USE:

    • Instructions to Use Bengal Gram Dal

      1. Culinary Uses
        • Ingredients: Bengal gram dal, water, spices (as needed).
        • Instructions:
          1. Basic Cooking:
            • Rinse the dal thoroughly in water.
            • Soak the dal in water for about 1-2 hours to reduce cooking time.
            • Drain the soaked dal and add it to a pot with fresh water (ratio of 1:3, dal to water).
            • Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the dal is soft and cooked through, usually 20-30 minutes.
            • Add salt and spices as desired.
          2. Dal Curry:
            • Ingredients: Bengal gram dal, onions, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, oil.
            • Instructions:
              • Cook the dal as described above.
              • In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds.
              • Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger; sauté until golden brown.
              • Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
              • Add turmeric, coriander powder, and garam masala; cook for a few minutes.
              • Add the cooked dal to the pan, mix well, and simmer for a few minutes to blend flavors.
              • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
      2. Snacks
        • Ingredients: Bengal gram dal, oil, spices.
        • Instructions:
          1. Chana Dal Fritters (Vada):
            • Soak Bengal gram dal in water for a few hours, then drain.
            • Grind the dal coarsely with minimal water.
            • Add chopped onions, green chilies, ginger, curry leaves, and spices to the dal paste.
            • Heat oil in a deep pan.
            • Shape the dal mixture into small patties or balls and deep-fry until golden brown.
            • Serve hot with chutney or sauce.
          2. Roasted Chana Dal:
            • Soak the dal in water for a few hours, then drain and dry.
            • Toss the dal with a little oil and spices of choice (e.g., salt, chili powder, turmeric).
            • Spread the dal on a baking sheet and roast in an oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until crispy.
            • Allow to cool and store in an airtight container for a healthy snack.
      3. Salads
        • Ingredients: Bengal gram dal, vegetables, lemon juice, spices.
        • Instructions:
          1. Chana Dal Salad:
            • Soak and cook the dal as described above.
            • Let the cooked dal cool.
            • Mix the dal with chopped vegetables like cucumber, tomato, onion, and bell pepper.
            • Add lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste.
            • Garnish with fresh herbs like coriander or mint and serve as a refreshing salad.
