Instructions to Use Pachai Payaru
- Sprouted Green Gram
- Ingredients: Green gram (mung beans), water.
- Instructions:
- Rinse a cup of green gram thoroughly and soak them in water overnight.
- Drain the water the next morning and rinse the beans again.
- Place the beans in a sprouting jar or a container with a lid, keeping them slightly moist.
- Rinse and drain the beans twice a day until they sprout (usually within 1-2 days).
- Use the sprouts in salads, sandwiches, or stir-fries for a nutritious boost.
- Green Gram Curry
- Ingredients: Green gram, onions, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, spices (cumin, turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder), oil, salt, water.
- Instructions:
- Rinse and soak a cup of green gram for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the water and cook the green gram in a pressure cooker with enough water until soft.
- In a pan, heat some oil and sauté chopped onions, garlic, and ginger until golden brown.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- Add the spices and sauté for a minute.
- Add the cooked green gram, salt, and water as needed to adjust the consistency.
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the flavors blend well.
- Serve hot with rice or chapati.
- Green Gram Soup
- Ingredients: Green gram, onions, garlic, ginger, vegetables (carrots, spinach, etc.), spices (turmeric, cumin), salt, water.
- Instructions:
- Rinse and soak a cup of green gram for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the water and cook the green gram in a pot with enough water until soft.
- In a separate pot, sauté chopped onions, garlic, and ginger until golden brown.
- Add chopped vegetables and spices, and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the cooked green gram and its cooking water, adjusting the consistency as needed.
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the flavors blend well.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs.
- Green Gram Face Pack
- Ingredients: Green gram powder, turmeric, yogurt or rose water.
- Instructions:
- Grind green gram into a fine powder.
- Mix 2 tablespoons of green gram powder with a pinch of turmeric and enough yogurt or rose water to form a smooth paste.
- Apply the paste evenly to your face and neck.
- Leave it on for 15-20 minutes.
- Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry.
- Green Gram Dosa
- Ingredients: Green gram, rice, ginger, green chili, salt, water.
- Instructions:
- Soak a cup of green gram and half a cup of rice for 4-5 hours.
- Grind the soaked green gram and rice with ginger, green chili, and water to make a smooth batter.
- Add salt to the batter and mix well.
- Heat a non-stick pan and pour a ladleful of batter, spreading it in a circular motion to form a thin dosa.
- Cook on both sides until golden brown and crisp.
- Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
